Use the office that created or maintains the record. The nearby county jail and state prison have different operators and different request paths.

SCDC is the starting point for its own booking, movement, release, transfer, and projected-date records. Ask which county representative accepts Maryland Public Information Act requests.

The Sheriff contact appears in the county justice directory, but detention records should not be sent there automatically. SCDC is managed by the warden under the County Commissioners and maintains its own detention records.

The clerk handles court documents in person or in writing. The office does not accept those record requests by telephone.

The field office is the local route for a public verification process when the court or Commission record shows supervision. Detailed client information may be restricted.

Use the dedicated DPSCS Public Information Act channel for ECI or other state-prison release, discharge, commitment, and photograph records.

• For a calculated date, use Projected Release Date; for alerts, use the VINELink Check.
• For a federal sentence, use the BOP locator and federal court record. For immigration custody, use ICE ODLS and the Baltimore Field Office.
