Search Entries
A name, place, or other term entered in a search box is sent to the outside provider that operates the tool. This site does not retain or log those search terms on its own systems. The provider’s privacy terms govern its handling of the query.
Messages
An email or contact submission may contain a name, reply address, and the message itself. We retain that information as needed to answer. It is not shared outside the organization unless the sender asks, a service provider must process it, or disclosure is required by law.
Automatic Technical Data
Routine technical records help deliver pages, measure performance, prevent misuse, and diagnose faults. They may include:
- Internet Protocol address;
- browser name and version;
- device type and operating system;
- pages viewed and time spent;
- the referring site, when supplied; and
- request dates and timestamps.
Cookies
Cookies and similar storage can show how visitors move through the site and support certain features. Browser controls can reject or remove them. Blocking cookies may change how a search partner, analytics service, or another feature behaves.
How Data Supports the Site
Collected information is used for defined operational purposes.
- Deliver pages and keep them responsive;
- send a requested search to the selected provider;
- measure which resources visitors use;
- identify errors, abuse, and security problems; and
- support advertising that may reflect visitor interests.
Links and Outside Services
Pages link to Somerset County, Maryland DPSCS, courts, release-record sources, federal locators, and outside search tools. Once a visitor follows a link, that operator’s own privacy rules apply. This site does not control an outside office or provider.
Advertising partners may use their own technology to recognize activity across different sites and select interest-based ads. That collection occurs on the partner’s systems and is governed by its disclosures and opt-out tools.
Recipients of Information
We do not sell personal information. Limited data may be handled by:
- search partners that process a submitted query;
- analytics providers that measure site use;
- advertising networks that deliver and assess ads; and
- law-enforcement or government bodies acting under a valid legal order.
Maryland public-record access, including the Maryland Public Information Act, governs requests to public agencies. It does not turn private visitor messages into Somerset County detention records.
Security Is Best Effort
Reasonable administrative and technical practices are used to protect information. No internet connection, storage platform, or vendor can be guaranteed free from every breach, interruption, or unauthorized act. Visitors should not send sensitive custody, medical, financial, or identity data that is not needed for a simple message.
Users Under Eighteen
This service is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under eighteen. A parent or guardian who believes a minor supplied information may request its deletion.
Your Data Choices
Subject to applicable law and a reasonable identity check, a person may ask to:
- receive a copy of personal data held about them;
- correct inaccurate submitted information;
- delete information that no longer must be kept; or
- object to or opt out of certain processing.
A request concerning an official jail, court, prison, or supervision record must go to the government custodian. This site cannot alter those external files.
Changes to This Notice
This notice may be revised as technology, vendors, or legal duties change. A revised version takes effect when it is posted here with its updated effective date.
