Nature of the Service
Somerset County Released Inmates organizes public routes for jail movements, release records, court cases, state-prison records, custody notifications, and post-release supervision. It does not store official records. It cannot confirm a person’s current custody, carry out a release, file a request for a visitor, or change a government file.
Links may connect visitors with Somerset County, Maryland agencies, federal locators, legal information, and outside search providers. A link is a route to another operator, not a claim that this site controls that operator.
Acceptable Use Rules
Visitors agree to use the site lawfully and without harming other people or the service.
- Do not violate a local, state, or federal law.
- Do not use information to stalk, threaten, harass, or impersonate anyone.
- Do not make hiring, housing, lending, insurance, or other regulated decisions from site content.
- Do not attempt unauthorized access to the site or a connected system.
- Do not deploy bots, scrapers, or automated extraction tools.
- Do not interfere with access, security, or service for another visitor.
No Consumer Reports
Somerset County Released Inmates is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act. It does not provide consumer reports, credit reports, background checks, or screening services. Advertising and search partners are not presented as providers of those services. Visitors agree not to use information from the site or a linked tool for:
- hiring, firing, or another employment decision;
- tenant selection or any housing decision;
- creditworthiness, lending, or insurance pricing;
- licensing, permits, or government-program eligibility; or
- another purpose regulated by the FCRA.
Links to Other Operators
Outside links may lead to release records, sheriff or corrections pages, court portals, statutes, legal-help material, federal systems, and search services. Those operators set their own terms, privacy practices, pricing, coverage, and availability. Somerset County Released Inmates does not endorse or accept responsibility for their content or data handling.
Service Provided As Is
The site and its contents are provided “as is” and “as available.” To the fullest extent allowed by law, no express or implied warranty is made about:
- accuracy, completeness, or timeliness;
- continuous or uninterrupted availability;
- freedom from errors, defects, or security weaknesses; or
- the scope or quality of an outside provider’s results.
Custody events and public records change quickly. Nothing here is an official statement by SCDC, DPSCS, ECI, a court, the Sheriff, BOP, ICE, or another government office.
Limits on Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Somerset County Released Inmates and its owners, operators, and content partners are not liable for direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or punitive loss arising from access, inability to access, reliance on content, or use of an outside link. A visitor remains responsible for confirming records with the office that created them.
User Indemnification
A visitor agrees to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless the site, its owners, operators, and content partners from claims, losses, liabilities, and reasonable legal fees arising from that visitor’s use, misuse, violation of law, or breach of these terms.
Ownership of Site Content
Unless a source is identified as belonging to someone else, the text, graphics, logo, layout, and code are owned by Somerset County Released Inmates or its content partners. They may not be copied, republished, distributed, sold, or modified without prior written permission. Government records reached through an outside link remain governed by the issuing body’s rules.
Changes to These Terms
These terms may be revised at any time. A new version becomes effective when posted. Continued use after that posting means the visitor accepts the revised terms.
Access May Be Revoked
Access may be limited, suspended, or terminated at any time and without prior notice, including when use threatens the site, another visitor, an outside service, or compliance with these terms.
Maryland Governing Law
Maryland law governs these terms, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. A dispute must be brought in a court with proper jurisdiction in Maryland. References to the Maryland Public Information Act concern public-agency records and do not alter this private agreement.
Severability
If a court finds one provision invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue in effect. The affected provision will be narrowed only as much as needed to make it valid and enforceable.
